I never thought the earlier posted flyer would cause such a firestorm, when I posted it. I do know that our CIM management is aware of some of the comments that some staff have anonymously posted.
I could only speak for my own personal decisions, I chose not to step up because there is no Light at the end of the tunnel. When our list first came out, I was very vocal that it was only a 12 month list life. Going through AB109, I made a choice early on that there would be no promotions. CIM dangled the carrot in the face of a couple of eager candidates and they took the bait. Now look at them they gave CIM 2 + years with yet no promotions! CIM management made it loud and clear that they would not seek promotions from within. Does this still stand?? Or are we now that desperate that you will be forced to promote within?
Doing Acting time is a great tool for STAFF, to gain valuable experience during a hiring cycle. It's not supposed to be a tool for CDCr to circumvent hiring!! If the department has openings we should be hiring!
Every staff member must make their own choices as they progress along in their careers. I just hope that they will seek the experience that will gain them the knowledge to promote. It should not be about compensation for the loss of the PLP monies.
Good luck
Have a Safe 8

It's bad that management use this acting instead of hiring staff, then when staff demote and there were position for sgt's at ciw and did they give the staff a chance to promote back to sgt to help with the lay offs, since we are the worst in the state. that would have brought moral a little higher to allow the people to make room for staff that might get laid off. but managemnent does not see it that way.
ReplyDeleteOnce again CIM stands for clusterfucs in management
ReplyDeleteThis IS a management position, that management will manipulate to their morbid advantage. If you want to take a chance, and ride the leg for future use, this IS the place. BUT, if your ride dont like you, and other managers dont like the leg your ridding, you will go NOWHERE. God help you if you make a mistake. They will DUMP YOU in a second. Remember, you have had NO formal supervisory training. They will turn on you like inmate gangs.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that anyone should do any acting time without a firm commitment that at the end of that time they would be hired for that position. Make sure it's in writing because it is not in writing it doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteWow!!it seems like some officers got their panties in a bunch lol,We are all grown adults and make our own decisions in life and work.Whomever decides to step up and is a acting Sgt good for you just make sure you handle it the proper way on your watch and life goes on,life to short. I get my eight and hit the gate .
ReplyDeleteLOL. You probably said that with a straight face. Just because some people call themselves adults , don't mean it's true . People will have to prove it in their actions and ultimately to themselves . Thats if they truly have a backbone and sometimes swallow their pride and can admit when they're wrong . That truly is the sign of an adult . FYI - The definition of insanity is when you try something over and over again and expect a different result .
DeleteIf we as officers would refuse management would have to hire.. I Jus heard today that they are gonna have 3 acting LT. Positions at cim... This is crazy..
ReplyDeleteLooks like there are plenty of scabs to fill those temp. positions . If this keeps up maybe we'll all be temps. Maybe we should get the A-team from the City of San bernardino staff to help manage this mess .
ReplyDeleteThe a team has been doing their thing ALREADY for years with this dept.
DeleteWhen you lose your position or your days off change, you get angry. When you get angry, you say and do things you shouldn't. When you do and say things you shouldn't, you losee 5%. When you lose 5%, you'll do anything for money. When you'll do anything for money, you'll become a prostitute for the state. Don't be a prostitute for the state. Remain in your own classification and let the idiots in charge figure it out for themselves.
ReplyDelete@10:35 pm that's funny, thanks for the laugh
DeleteWhen I joined the department, I was told this was paramilitary, that couldn't be further from the truth. I remember an old saying while I served, "lead, follow or get out of the way". It seems to me that CDC is filled with a ton of people who don't care to promote, talk shit about those that want to lead and yet these trucks enjoy putting down those that have the eagerness to lead. The military has a system in place where if you don't constantly improve yourself mentally and physically, your considered a lame. So if you can't promote they get rid of dead weight by discharging you. Now the opposite of that system is CDC and the glorious dead weight of the 30% of the creme of the crap.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT was a great comment :) I totally agree here. If you dont want to improve yourself and you dont want to step up, that is your choice. Dont knock those that do!!!
DeleteI would like to promote to Sergeant at CIW. Just wear the stripes and get paid. No security issues, no riots, no incident packets, no major disturbances, no searching. Just deal with a few 115's concerning lesbian activity, and make sure all C/O's are wearing their whistle and have their range card on them....Gravy. If I ever miss working in a real prison I'll just watch an episode of MSNBC Lock Up
ReplyDeleteI like turtles.
ReplyDeleteWho is running this place, and how come they don't have to be accountable?
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight, it is not ok to take an acting or out of class Sergeant spot. BUT it is ok to take a two week acting Captain one. Nice.
ReplyDeleteHow about limited term for Lieutenants or acting is that frowned upon?
Love it or leave it.
Just to quote Mr Roberts Sr, from a few months ago "Right way wrong way, CIM way"
ReplyDeletethis place is so dysfuntional...its everyman or woman for themselves...someone recently told me which made sense...all we are here is a PPAS#...you call in sick they ask you your number not your name...we are one of almost a 1000 fish in this sea...so bottom line take care of yourself because thats what the upper is doing...if you get hurt take care of you...this job is gonna be here 1000 years after were dead and gone...dont abuse the system just take care of yourself and your family because only you can do that...have a safe 8
ReplyDeleteWell said 11:33 AM , I already have that mindset after several incident with this place...
DeleteCDCR is depressing. We have no positive influence. Security Guard or Dog catcher is more rewarding then being a C/O. I am doing my best to change careers before I get to old...Oh God please help me. For all you so called senior staff enjoy your pension because that's all you can get from being a C/O. I got 5 years in now, and I am vested. It's time to put this nightmare behind me.
