CIM's new Warden?

"Bird on the Wire", says a new Warden is heading to CIM very soon to replace Warden Gary Sandor.  The talk is that there will be a two week transition period and then Warden Joe Sullivan will take over.  Mr. Sullivan was the Warden at CCI.

I found this Internet story on him:

Warden Joe Sullivan from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi CA talking about how they’re handling substance abuse recovery in prison today, how that’s changed over the years and what we can do to best stay out of his system. His career began in the Department of Corrections in December 1984 as a Vocational Instructor with the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC). He’s achieved a Degree in Industrial Arts and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration. He’s smart, he’s an achiever and he’s the Warden

  1. So free staff can move thru the ranks and become a warden? Wow CDC is stupid

  2. That's where he started. A lot of ppl start non custody then choose to go custody. Either way. He the Warden now. So CIM will take orders from a former free staff.

  3. Yea he's one of those vocation instructors, who happens to have a degree or two, who got his peace officer "training" being the AOD once a month. He does'nt have a clue. And that's the way is most of the admins in this state. That's why they come up with so many laim brain ideas on how to run a prison, and how to spend and manipulate their budget. Good luck. Its seems chino is just a watering hole for promotion mongrols. More typical state mis management at work!

  5. I guess it's hard to remain positive after what we went through with the last two idiots, but let's give this guy a chance before panic turns to contempt. We are at the bottom with the current bully - can it really get any worse? I heard he was fair and pro staff.

  7. I welcome anyone who wants to invest in CIM, not just a double dipper trying to pad his future.

As far as the non-custody thing goes, I don't think it really matters as long as you listen to your rank and file troops. I happen to think multiple degrees is a good thing. If some of our managers didn't have secretaries to write for them they would be in big trouble.

Have you seen some of the emails they send out!

  10. Does anybody realy know what time it is?, does anybody realy care? Sorry, I was having a chicago moment. Listen since I started here in 87' I cant even remember how many wardens or as they were once referred to as, if I'm not mistaken, superintendents I have seen come and go. Its to the point now that a dry erase board should be installed at the main entrance to the institution. Whether or not this guy makes a positive difference or not is yet to be seen, however I would be willing to bet that this guy will be gone before myself in 4yrs. Just saying.

  19. You are fortunate to get Sullivan as your Warden. He is the best Warden I have worked for at CCI. He is a kind, fair and compassionate person who is truly pro staff. He will back his employees and fight for them. In our current CDCR times and the unknown future of all of our jobs I would definetly want a person of his character on my side. Be open minded when he joins your team, you will be pleasantly surprised.

  20. It's better to get Sullivan than Cash. She's garbage and fake. She followed Warden Haws lead at Lancaster and burned cops to get her place in line. She's just feeding everyone B.S untill she's warden. Watch Out!!!!
