Another deadly assault/ CSP LAC

This morning at 0745 hours 2 female correctional officers were battered by an inmate on our Level 4 GP yard in a housing Unit.

The inmate rushed the first officer who was in the office in the housing unit immediatelystriking her in the face and knocking her to the ground. She attempted to defend herself by kicking at the inmate as he continued his aggressive attack.

Her female partner saw this and came to her assistance. As she approached, she attempted to stop the attack by jumping on the back of the inmate. He pushed her off and knocked her to the floor. The inmate immediately focused his attack on the female officer he had just thrown to the ground by straddling her and delivering blow after blow to her facial and upper torso area.

The control booth officer finally obtained a clear shot and discharged one 40mm round. Due the inmate rolling the female officer over the round inadvertently struck the officer in the side. The control booth officers actions stopped the brutal attack on the female staff. One officer received 3 stitches to her right eyelid and the swelling to her face.

Both female staff were treated at outside hospitals for their injuries.

A word to all our brothers and sisters in green and that work within these walls…please be safe and always watch your backs. Never forget where you work!   (thanks M. Harris for the info.)

  3. Luckily, the officers will be ok. But it seems that its just a matter of time until it happens again & and much closer to home. Check the staffing patterns, there is no staff on the yards but the inmate population has not changed, one staff per 180+ inmates in an open dorm setting, seriously? These cats in Sacramento wouldnt dare set foot in a housing unit like that! Just sayin'

  4. No those cats in Sac dont give two fu%ks about you or your family. They go home collecting a fat $check everyday after doing very little for anyone. We on the other hand get paid fairly decent for what could happen, things like this is what could happen. Things like the RCWest09 riot are what could happen and god forbid another Manny Gonzalez incident happens.I know we dont do a whole lot while on duty, but we work around the felons of the state that dont have any respect for anything period. The fact that we deal with them on the daily is enough for anyone to respect what we do. Watch each others 6. Be safe.

  5. I would like to know if the ratio of inmate to staff attacks has risen since AB109/Realignment... anyone know??? It seems that it's getting more and more violent and staff is waiting longer for "help" because everyone is so spread out... something has got to change! before it's too late!

  6. A little off topic but serious question for CIM administration.

Why is it that A yard has two Officers per housing unit. So called level 2 PC's. gays, child molesters, rapist, lames that cant handle the mainline and drop outs that say the game is over. Yet D yard has one Officer per bldg. with level 2 GP. D yard inmates are fully involved in prison politics. D yard has 180 to 200 inmates per bldg. D yard is the biggest yard in the state and is a nightmare for responders on foot. A yard max capacity per bldg is 138. A yard is close quarters for staff response. To the new warden can you please look into this for the safty of the D yard officers. If anything maybe get transportation for all responders. That's the least that can be done. If you did that at least you took action that really met something.. unlike the last two wardens that only put out bullshit memos that had no real meaning. Good job C/O Hast for getting the bike program started. The most important issue for D yard and it took a C/O to get it done, not admin, or even a sworn supervisor, it took a C/O.

  7. Prayers from CSATF go out to these 2 brave female officers for a quick recovery.

With regards to the Stadardized Staffing package that was recently activated, with the shortage of staff in all crusial areas that Sac is making, we could see more of this happening. It is more important now than ever to back up and support your partners.

  10. For anonymous at 10:18 am, yes thanks to Officer Hast the bike program got started but also thanks to a couple of Administrators that helped guide Officer Hast to get this going. By the way the ones delaying and pushing back this program was your own union...just saying. Be safe and keep patrolling your sectors.

    5. @1:17 PM Do you have a management position that a capt. gave you?. You sound like a big time ass kisser. When are people going to learn just get a position by seniority. CIM the ass kissing capital of the state. To many management positions get rid of them. We want our 30 percent so we can pick our favorite brown noser or so I can hook up that female.

  13. @ 10:31 PM - the couple of administrators that helped push along the bike program did something great. We can write on this blog for days about how getting to an alarm faster is a good thing. To the union: YOU STUPID F_ _ _ ING IDIOTS!!!!! a quicker response time for a C/O in need of help...uh were not sure about that, because it might offend some of are members that don't want the bike program.

  14. If Fred Stevens had anything to to with delaying the bike program ,he needs to step down now. If he didn't, disregard.

  16. Yah im with 7:11PM lets all go out there and "lock down our houses" and "go on strike" and "take back what we are paid to protect" ....................and then we can all "pick up our unemployment checks together" and "file bankruptcy together" and then "watch our kids go with out insurance"!! Some of you people on this blog are morons and I wonder how you were even hired for this JOB!!

  17. I hope the Officers obtain legal representation from other source not related to ccpoa.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Always hire your own personal lawyer and sue the hell out of everyone. What kind of law experience does does a CCPOA rep have? NONE!

    1. Check out CDCR Law they represent Correctional Officers and have no affiliation with ccpoa.

    2. You sound like an inmate.... you can always resign, you act like your arm is getting twisted. We all know you won't, after all you will make a career out it. Take pride in your career.... In regards to ccpoa, yes these are hard times, understand they are not miracle workers. Believe that for being a guard they have actually got you a range of benefits. When was the last time you actually took a P.T. Test for you Physical Fitness pay? Get Peace Officer Status with only a P.C. 832, (certificate animal control gets)? Cheap medical benefits? approximately $11 for a single guard)? The list goes one.... I apologize for blowing up bull, I just had it....
