Sergeant V. Valdez

I got word from a co-worker at CIM that Sergeant Velna Valdez had passed away this morning.  Sgt. Valdez had been on an off work order.  She was strong as nails and she appeared very fit and healthy, so when I heard I didn't believe it!

Sergeant Valdez started in the late 90's, most of us remember her working as a Program Sergeant on CIM's MSF yard (facility D).  Ive heard from many youngsters today, saying that Sgt. Valdez helped bring these folks up in the department.  Much respect is pouring in from our FB site.  The common theme is that she never had a bad day, and when you were down she picked you right up!

Sergeant V. Valdez YOU WILL BE MISSED FROM YOUR CIM FAMILY

  4. Very sad day at CIM. It seems like that Dark Cloud continues to hover over these walls. For most of us that knew Sergeant Valdez and knew her true character this definitely came as a shocker. Hopefully this makes everyone stop and think for a minute that Life is way too short and people need to enjoy every minute possible. Stop talking $hit about eachother and start taking care of one another. Look out for your partner and pay attention to detail. I knew Valdez when she was a housing officer in 3 cities and she was the same then as she was the last day she walked the yard. You will truly be missed by all, but especially by your Program "A" staff. Rest In Peace Sergeant Valdez.

  6. She was ONE of the very few good supervisors, sorry to hear this. I work a coverage relief spot, and when ever I worked for her she was always helpful and friendly. She will be missed.

  7. This is another sad day at CIM. This was a great supervisor and an even better human being. It is times like this when we must reflect on our lives and understand the big picture. No matter what happens here at CIM, we are a family and all we have is each other. Make sure you tell your love ones you LOVE THEM because tomorrow isnt promised to us. My prayers go out to her daughter.

  8. I worked with Valdez for quite some time on MSF. She was exactly as others have described, always a pick me up, always fool of humor and capable as a supervisor. I live out of State now but I will miss knowing that she is working at CIM. I am truly saddened by this news. God bless to those of you who knew her and to everyone at CIM. -- jimmy olsen
