Your Partner

The thread below is getting off track!  When I said Partner????  I meant that there should always be two Officers working side by side.  Custody levels should not dictate staffing levels.

There is only two people that really knows what happen during the incident, and I'm yet to hear from anyone of those staff members.  I received a couple of kites regarding the incident and I'm not sure how accurate the information is.  What ever the Sergeant did that night only he could answer!  I would hate to imagine how it would have gone had he not been there at all, what would the outcome have been.

I know if I was getting my Ass handed to me, at least I would want my partner to sound the alarm and get help to me.  You never know how you or your partner will react to any given situation.  Remember this was about an Inmate attacking an Officer, please don't attack each other!

In the days to come the truth will come out!  Until then hold judgement.  This is about staffing levels in my opinion.  Its no coincidence that the assaults are up!  I've been reporting just about an assault or riot a week, since we began the standardization!

  1. Facility A has a parner on 2nd and 3rd watch. It's facility D that has no partner on all watches. That sector bullshit is a joke...you will be lucky to see a sector officer for a total of five munuits per shift. To admin your sector project has already failed. ask any five day a week dorm C/O.

  2. Okay then I stand corrected. So again where was his partner than? It should have been a three on one, and I will take those odds any day of the week!

  3. People, what's done, is done. However it has reminded me again of the old and ever present adage: "BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS" Not only should you be aware of the inmates around you but also the staff as well. And thats no joke. Your life may depend upon it some day. GOD forbid.

    1. @ 10:14 PM - Good post, got me thinking. Cuts in staff, slow response, no gun coverage, your partners may be lames, and so on...it's not worth it. I am changing the way I do business.

  4. Well the writing is on the wall.God/forbid many more assaults and possibility killed. My short time with CDC ,I noticed this department is reactive instead of proactive and I'm sure its been like this for many decades.SOMETIMES we get complacent in our job especially CDC.Its not rocket science to work for CDC all you need is common sound sence and a little street smarts.I learnd a lot and worked with many characters, officers, sgts and free staff. There are many officers and sgts that had potential to better themselves and get caught up in the CDC politics and the hommie hookups.I hope that everyone does make a right decisions that fit their life circumstances. As for me I moved on to better and more of a challenging career.Take care my brothers and sisters in CDC,its been a pleasure working with you.

  5. Got word from a person that responded to the incident - The Sergeant did what he did, which is he did something. The part of the thread that reads "As for his partner??????" could be truth in reporting.
